sequence of chakras

What is the reason behind the sequence of activating chakras? Not to awake the fiery serpent too early (at least that's the most commonsensical I could find)?

I remember there was a post on that a few months ago, but... still, I need a clarification on that and I'd be grateful for being provided with it.
