I've heard of this as well. You would have much more information as you actually live in France, but I am pretty sure the French government actually regards Scientology as a cult, and treats it likewise. They actually encourage rehab and counseling for it.

So being a high priest in my own home isn't very motivating if I can't use that position on an official bases. I'm better off just meditating and practicing Satanic Magic for my own benefit and for those who appreciate it. Clergy outside the official status is just not recognized there not allowed. Now, that being said, what is most frustrating over here is that there are more and more black gospel preachers appearing in various places and earning out of it no one seems to mind because they of the antiracist laws so they are more or less allowed to do what they want as long as it doesn’t get out of hand; and this goes for Islamic imams too! So there’s definitely something wrong there but until such times as the French government wakes up and realizes that these people are overtaking the country, there’s very little one can do about it especially when one worship’s Satan, a god not very well liked in France!  [/B]

One thing Ii forgot to mention is that France , unlike most other Western Nations, is not a Federal country. In America, a law on religion or speed limits or then again on homosexual weddings, may be completely different than in the State of Washington or Texas for instance; whereas in France, the law is the same for the entire country including Corsica, Guadeloupe and Martinique which are islands but still part of the French central government. They are not interested in religions that are not normally recognized and thus controllable therefore anything that id different from the normal way of life is antisocial.  Now that being said, it doesn't really bother me because it doesn't prevent me from being what I am which would be much different and much much worse if I were living in Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia.[/B]
