Does the blood for your signature need to come from left thumb. I've tried pricking my finger and get hardly any blood so it's difficult to write a whole signature

Your blood is your blood, it does not matter where excactly it is from. Finger is an example because most of us can prick a finger and draw a small amount of blood for a signature with no problems.
