Hey, I've been studying a lot of mythology lately, and I remember the site said that most Gods were actually demons. So does that mean most of these myths are true as well? This worries me because of some of the things the Gods did in mythology, (For example raping a virgin priestess and then having her turned into a gorgon because it happened to her.) I understand that these myths were written a long time ago, and that they might have been twisted around, I was just hoping someone could explain it to me better.
Also, what about myths having radically different stories about key things about humanity? Like the origin of the universe, and why there is evil in the world and such? Not trying to be disrespectful, just very curious about how I can find the truth in the myths.

Anyway, as HP Don and HP Pythia have said repeatedly, most if not all of the things mentioned in myths are allegories. They are not literal; they have spiritual meanings. You should search for their Sermons or their posts in this group for more information.But seriously, what kind of myth says that a God raped a virgin? What did you read?

Medusa, the famous Gorgon, was a virgin priestess of Athena who Posieden wanted to have sex with. She refused him and in anger he raped her in front of Athena's statue, this made Athena angry but obviously she couldn't do anything to Poseiden, so instead she turned Medusa into a hideous monster. i.e. the Gorgon.
That's how the myth goes anyway. Thanks for the advice, I'll check that sermon out.

Huh.... That's creepy. What you read is (based on wikipedia lol): In a late version of the Medusa myth, related by the Roman poet OvidLate = not so accurate? I never remembered of such a myth really; I did remember of Medusa being killed by Perseus but nothing else to be honest...

I think the myth he is referring to is the one about how Medusa cam to be. In short, Poseidon came in a big wave onto a priestess and had intercourse in Athena's temple. Athena got angry at the priestess and turned her into a gorgon. The gorgon was Medusa.

He is talking about about Poseidon raping Medusa in Athena's temple. This angered Athena and she turned Medusa into a monster. Most legends are not to be taken literally and have a spiritual or philosophical meaning. And not a "and that's why you should be nice to your neighbors" philosophical message.

That's the myth of Medusa's origin. She was a beautiful priestess of Athena but Posieden raped her in the temple, which made Athena mad so she turned her into a Gorgon. (The thing that turns people to stone.)

I think Garrett is referring to the story of Medusa.But is important to take notice that in the original myth, Medusa and the  Gorgons were all children of ancient marine deities: Phorcys and Ceto.
Is a late versión, by a roman poet, that depict her as a beautiful maiden raped by Poseidon and punished by Athena.  I guess it was an attempt to defame Poseidón(Father Satan). Is not the only story with this purpose.
No god would rape an inocent girl, even the less Poseidón.

Seeing as though the gods of old are demons (Deamons in Greek) and their goal is to aid humanity not to bring about ill or harm such as rape when Posiden (after being teased and tempted by the priestess then fleeing to Athena looking for protection) "raped" this priestess, one might see this as blasphemy (from the enemy) then we can see this chapter in mythology as being a lie.. Hail Astaroth, Hail Mammon, Hail Set, Hail Lucifer our father!!!
