Minutes in meditation

Hey guys,
Here is a question, some of the meditations on JoS, says for example, invoking elements to do it for 7 minutes. My question is, when I meditate I dont know how many minutes passes, never counted, and I think if I try to I might not focus like I should, how do you guys manage the meditation time?
