The pharaohs were powerful humans no doubt, with the old Tibet monks even more so, however power alone is not the only thing needed to complete this working. For us these days, we are putting all the elements together to achieve the biggest goal of Spiritual Satanism.
This goal has yet to be achieved. While our ancestors worked on the puzzle, without Satan's direct guidance due to our enemy's interference (from very early on), our most powerful people struggled to get anywhere for generations.
Now we have Satan, able to actively guide us, and we have amazing tools in this generation (like the Internet) that helps us put everything together and organise our resistance to the enemy. This working has not been completed before, but some may have come close.
While we owe those who came close a great deal for their work, We will be the first of Satan's children to achieve his dream for us.
Praise Satan.

Even if one were "immortal" due to the Magnus Opus they could still take their own life or be killed due to drowning, gunshot wound, or a number of other causes.
It is my understanding that once you've reached godhead the cells don't die or age in normal circumstances.
I do however agree it is odd that there have been no statements of anyone who has achieved this. I can't blame someone for wanting more proof than a simple "because I said so." Its only healthy to question that which seems improbable.

There is a question I've been wanting to ask on this subject for some time now: does completing the magnum opus actually result in immortality? It is said to, but I have my doubts about this, for surely if this were so, at least a few people from Ancient Egypt e.g. Ramses II would still be alive today?
