Do chakra chants have to be said aloud?

For example the opening of the third eye the JoS website says vibrate "thoth" can it be done quietly I may not be doing it right I can feel the energy but I simply don't get the "you can feel it in your forehead" vibration stuff how loud should I be doing it?

Loud eneough to feel it in your forehead..there is really no way of explaining that. Feel the vibration in your forehead.
