Chinese "Cultivator" Comics (Manhua)

Along with a ridiculous amount of internet censorship and communism in the country, there is actually a class of Chinese comics (manhua) which depict a totally different world. These are commonly known as "cultivator" comics. I'm actually surprised by what is depicted in these.

These are nothing like what anyone would expect to come out of a country which governs on communism. These comics depict a world where strength rules all. A world where power is everything. A world where people are not "equal" and their power determines their status in society. The weak are not catered to by being "kind" nor is there any compensation for the weak. These don't depict a distraught dystopia where the powerful are separated from the weak like in some dystopian movies, but rather a world where the powerful are respected and hold high status. The weak can become strong if they want their will and earn respect. The plot is centered around spiritual concepts. The characters are called "cultivators" who essentially meditate to increase their powers. They cultivate chi or some variant. They cultivate (meditate) for hundreds of years and increase their powers. They do this with meditations. The higher one's powers are, the more abilities the character has very much like "siddhis". The concept of soul is in all of these. There are concepts of rebirth, past life memories, karma, internal energy, chi, and a lot of other spiritual concepts. Almost all of them depict characters with abilities like telepathy. A lot of these comics have some variants of remote viewing and astral travel. Characters live extremely long lives (unless they are killed) and really powerful ones could also be immortals. Items/weapons etc need to be "refined" which is pretty much the same concept as cleaning a new magickal prop/talisman to get rid of negative energies. A lot of characters remember their past lives and use their knowledge to advance. And a lot more.

It's surprising that these aren't banned. At lease people in China china still have some concepts of spirituality much like a lot of eastern countries. Maybe people can read these and realize the fuck kind of a world Jinping in trying to push down their throats. Members who are into anime/manga here should give one of these manhua a try.

Here are some of the concepts I have found to be attacks, disgusting or misdirection in these novels :

1. Demonic sects are vilified. It is the Demonic sects that commit horrible and atrocious deeds, definitely not the pure and noble righteous sects who lynch the common people with open arms. They also depict demons as something to be subjugated, controlled or killed. This is an attack against Satan and his demons. Though such an attack isn't limited to this novel.

Example - Out of 10 cultivation novels, 9 will have such slander against Demons. Rarely will you find a novel where demons are cool or painted as the good guys, maybe none.
Warlock of the magus world and Demon's diary. The former directly tries to slander the gods by their name and the mc literally cultivates a 'cube' in his early stages.

2. Using aphrodisiacs that accidentally got eaten by the girl which was definitely not intended by the pure and humble main lead which led to forced sex or manipulated sex. Using aphrodisiacs is also used a pretext for rape. In some novels the main heroine is injured and the protagonist decides that sex is the answer and thus commits rape.
Example - ATG (Against the Gods)

3. These novels are also obsessed with petite 13 year or 15 year old looking heroines who in truth are thousands of years of old. This promotes pedophilia to the mass mind.
Example - Any trash tier garbage novels.

4. In some trash novels, women with heaven defying spirit roots(innate spiritual talent) are forcefully abducted or lured into being an furnace for the main protagonist or some other characters.
Example - Renegade immortal, Demon's Diary.

5. You will find plenty of nationality in these novels. The main characters gets a hard on for his communist nation and does things which makes their communist nation proud. Of course it won't be blatant but disguised and subtle. You will see that the "Western" cultivators are bad and villains and people from far East(Japan) are also villains. Japanese are hated a lot by the way.

6. One of the gravest misdirection built into such books is the whole concept of cultivation. In these books, its always cultivation of technique, cultivation of divine treasure, cultivation of dao and cultivation of each and everything there is except the cultivation of self. It is never about the cultivation of self and the powers of mind in these novels. To advance and move into the next realm, you have to get the divine flower of jade lotus to get into the next realm or get divinie treasure of thousand nirvana to simulate your spiritual qi for breaking through. Its always get x to move to y realm.

However, to this day, I have read not a single book which specially emphasizes on the cultivation of soul and the powers of mind. Its always about resources. Without resources, forget about cultivation. When in truth any one from any walk of life can cultivate their soul regardless of talent and no physical resources is needed. Things like bowl of water, mirrors, candles can be afforded by anyone and most of these are mostly used in intermediate or advanced stages except when first dedicating.

Perhaps, the concept of "No resource, No cultivation" or suppressing the knowledge that "Anyone can cultivate regardless of resources or talent" is the main purpose of allowing these books to be circulated by the enemy.

7. It is said that only one mortal out of one hundred thousand others can have the spiritual affinity to cultivate. Even then, his/her talent is probably poor and probably can't achieve much. Only those who are one in a million can cultivate with higher potential and speed. This again imprints into the mass mind that magic is something extremely rare and only few can cultivate. If you ask the average Joe "Can you do magic ?" He will respond with " Are you an idiot ? There's no magic in this world"
However, still, deep in his mind, it has been imprinted that magic is something extremely rare even though he just said that there's no magic in this world. What's imprinted in his subconscious could manifest in astral or affect it.
Wow, as I continue listing out, even I am surprised by the numbers of attacks onto humanity just in a single genre.

8. Cultivation is depicted to be pursuit that comes packaged with loneliness and desolateness. To move onto a higher realm, you have to return to your roots of being a caveman and sit in the same place in a cave for tens of thousands of years. Only then can you advance into the next stage. Forget about meeting with your friends and family during this period. Having sex is a no-no as it will exhaust your 'yang' energy much needed to break through into the next realm, lol.

That said, there are some good merits to these cultivation novels. The comprehension of knowledge which they simple dub as 'dao'. Comprehending philosophical concepts and applying it to increase their power is something I am fond of. At least it promotes the gaining of knowledge.
My favorite thing about it is going against the heavens or going against anything that tries to exert control over you. Rebellion against the fate and what not, there's something about it that deeply attracts me.

I read about HP Zevios Metathronos's sermon on how facebook, instagram, youtube etc are all tools for psychological warfare. The algorithm is designed such that one gets lost in it and wastes a lot of time. Time which could be used for waking up and spirtitually advancing. I wouldn't put cultivation novels and manhuas past such tools. They have thousands of chapters and plethora of mind numbing content, most of which are garbage or trash not offering any literary or knowledgeable values which wastes a lot of valuable time. Perhaps weeks and months. And for every trash quality cultivation novel you read, 10 of the same same novels is written in the timeframe.

The most important thing to take from this passages of text is that the enemy wouldn't allow such concepts of cultivation and immortality if it didn't benefit them or if it harmed their interests.

I see.

1) Yes that's disgusting. They associate "demons" with evil. But that could also be a translation issue, I am not sure.
2) Yes, they both are shown to be in some sort of a bind. AGT is particularly disgusting. There are not so bad ones out there.
3) Not all. Again AGT is particularly disgusting.
4)) Yes, but in a lot of them this is shown to be disgusting and not an ok thing to do.
5)??? I have personally not come across anything like this.
6) Yes cultivation of techniques is big in these. But these could also be interpreted as techniques of meditation. A lot of them portray these techniques as knowledge and not external props. For example in martial peak, the mc studies the "dao of space" which is literally understanding the physics of space and is not shown to be an external thing but increasing their own understanding of the space.
7) Again, there's a lot of trash out there but a lot of them are also focused on the MC not being a one in a million talent and weak in the beginning. It is true that they show that the MC stumbles upon some sort of a random secret which helps him but a lot show the MC's own determination and grit.
8) Not all?? Sex is actually big in these. I have not come across any that mentioned sex is not to be had to save some "yang" energy. Yes they do show periods of isolated meditation but the main characters aren't lonely or such. You can also interpret it as meditation without any disturbances.

Again, not all of these are great, as with everything. It's like most horror movies depict demons as evil but there are some which shed a positive light. Similarly not all of these are great but there are some which have a lot of positive elements, more so than the negativity. I guess I should have given specific examples in my post. Try martial peak for one. Bad elements - yes. Good elements - also yes.

Also before I get attacked, evil sects in this are also called "demon" path cultivators but that could also be a translation issue. But there is literally a demon king character in this who was the most powerful in the realm where the MC is from and who saved the realm.

There is an old man character for a couple of chapters who mentioned something about "equality" but he is irrelevant. The major races are shown to live separately in their respective territories and they don't interbreed.

No sexualized underaged characters in this one.

Girls being used as "furnace" is not shown to be a good thing in this one.

There is no character trying to do good for his communist country or whatever you mentioned. There are no western characters per say.

Bad elements - yes. Good elements - also yes. In our world today if I get hung up on the negativity I'll have nothing left to entertain myself with. The good elements outweigh the bad ones in this.

I admit that I wrote about cultivation novels in a way too negative manner. These novels are what I grew up reading. I meant novels such as Carefree Path of Dreams and other novels where the mc literally goes to China and is Anti-West. I shouldn't have been so biased or tried to find many negative things about the Cultivation novels or listed out the good things in equal amount. To be honest, anti west cultivation novels are one in a thousand but it was me who trying to find each and every negative thing about these novels, I apologize for giving the wrong image for the passages of text above and giving a wrong image of the novels to you स त न म and to fellow Zevism reading this.

While these novels might have some negative elements, one can't deny the outright romance in this novels of flying and fighting against that what tries to exert control over you or tries to manipulate you like fate, heaven's will etc. This is the greatest thing that attracts me and also the prospect or the image that human beings are able to exert such power.

Indeed, that's a straight jab at Communism and that's a really good thing to see. I hope for such novels to flourish.

It's very mature of you to rephrase and clarify about something that you mentioned earlier instead of simply arguing more to keep your point. And you're right that there is indeed a lot of trash out there, like AGT that you mentioned. That is straight disgusting at some points. I should have also provided specific examples in my post so people don't pick up trash novels.
