Chakras and Magick

When doing a working can you meditate on a specific chakra, one relevant to the working, draw energy into it and program it? I have heard that fated events are stored in peoples chakras so I guessed it may be possible to do this?

And if so is it worthwhile? Is there any particular significance to doing a working this way as opposed to simply taking the energy into your whole body?
