Aspects through a sign?

I am interested in people's opinions here about such a phenomenon as a conjunction (or other aspects, but most strongly a conjunction) between two planets located in different signs. Let’s say someone has synastry with a person’s Mars in the first degrees of Taurus, and another’s Venus in the last degrees of Aries. Will this conjunction have the same power as a synastry conjunction in the same sign? Personally, my observation says that the different nature of the signs has something like a “barrier” and interferes in the case of connections, but I cannot find a refutation or confirmation of this in JoS or anywhere else.

Yes, this may pose a greater problem than conjunction in the same sign, because the "affinity/expression" you are trying to "blend" is not the same. The results will depend on the rest of the synastry.
