Always coughing when doing Nauli breathing

Every time I try to do Nauli breathing, I cough. I try to expel all the breath out and then vacuum my stomach in under the ribs (which I have no problem with) but I always cough and have to stop. I’m only successful if there’s still a little bit of breath in me, even though that’s not how it’s supposed to be. I do this first thing in the morning so there’s no food in my stomach or anything.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong??

Do you have a history of smoking? If so, try uva-ursi, cultsfoot, mullein or osha...Drink some soothing tea for your throat.
