I have a conundrum for some time now.

Do we program the light with affirmations internally i.e. our mental voice or externally our speaking voice? both?

You can definitely do both, and choose whatever that is suitable for you. I tend to fluctuate between the two. For example, I use my mental voice when I am programming (affirming) certain things at home with my family to ensure privacy, and then use my speaking voice when I am home alone. What matters in this case is your focus and intent.
