It's an interesting question, but I don't think they would use the photos to train the AI for good purposes. Facebook is known for its espionage

I too have thought about this a lot.
As you say, take it with a grain of salt. We are not the ones creating AI, so we have, in reality, no idea what the general mission of the programs are.
I ask CHATGPT questions that Google would have subjectivity on, like a basic potato salad recipe, or statistics, how often certain things have been documented to happen. Even so, I tread carefully.
My main point I want to say: do not let AI replace your ability to think for yourself.
