A year ago, when I was feeling really really down, to the point I wasn't aware of my surroundings for a moment. When I looked in front of me, there was a human form spirit with heavy black aura around it, in a sitting position while "looking" at me (it has no face). It faded immediatly after I gazed at it. Was it malevolent and drawn to my energy?

It could have been. Lower beings on the astral are attracted to negative energies, they feed off fear, sadness, guilt, and anger. If you are constantly dwelling on these emotions, these malevolent beings could be more attracted to you.

When you are feeling this way again, try to clean your aura and visualize a bright white-gold light around you and affirm 9x "I am cleaning my aura from all forms of negativity in the most beneficial and healthy way possible for me."
