So think of visual snow as one layer of reality. If you focus on the visual snow you'll be able to produce colors or ectoplasm. The colors will mostly be in the background instead of the static turning into it you can learn to move and manipulate the static separately if you wanted to.

Most people don't see it but it's normal. If you focus on the static you can use it to see colors, you said you can see colors in the dark why not reach your hand out and see what happens.

When I say "burn a hole in the vision" I meant a focused gazed makes the vision that appears fade quickly. And yes it's safe to enter the visions I haven't had a negative experience so far.

Next time it happens stay relaxed don't look directly at it the type of gaze you use can be helpful. Like instead of trying to get them in the center of your vision use your peripherals that way is less aggressive than looking directly which burns a hole through the visions. If you relax enough...
